When you are filling out your 2290 form, you will be asked to provide consent to disclosure. What this means is that you are giving the IRS permission to share your information with other agencies, such as the Department of Transportation, the taxpayer's employer, the state department of motor vehicles (DMV) and any other federal, state, or local agencies that may need the information to administer tax law.You should be very careful about who you give your consent to, as the IRS can share your information with just about anyone.
